Elijah Logan Jorgensen

1/4/13 ~ 5/25/13
A beautiful angel received his wings and is now encircled in the love of his Heavenly Father after peacefully passing from this life in the arms of his adoring parents.

Eli was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Liz and Logan Jorgensen and brought them joy beyond description in his short four and a half months of life.  After a happy five weeks at home with his parents, Eli was diagnosed with Severe Combined Immune Deficiency and began a journey too difficult for most of us to comprehend. A successful bone marrow transplant unfortunately led to multiple struggles that his tiny body couldn't overcome. Despite going through so much, Eli fought until the very end and proved his desire to be here by holding his parents' gaze until his last few breaths of life.

Eli blessed the lives of a countless number of people and taught us all far more than we ever could have taught him. Our ultimate fighter beat the odds on several different occasions but in the end was called home to continue his great mission and work. He is survived by his parents and multiple grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. Eli's parents offer their deepest gratitude to the staff at Primary Children's Medical Center who ensured their time as a little family was not only possible but also enjoyable.

Continue to fight on until we see you again, little Eli!

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31st 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Ward Meetinghouse located at 495 East 5600 South, Murray, Utah 84107. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the same location. Friends may visit on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

  3. I have found and followed your blog through two amazing people (Jill Heaps and Rosalie Wilkinson). I have been so inspired and touched by your faith and dedication to your sweet little angel. I am so sorry for the loss that you are going through. Your little guy has touched lives of people you don't even know (like mine!), and will continue to do so for years and years to come. I pray for angels of comfort to surround you at this time. Our family will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for sharing your story, and for teaching us what love and family are really all about. Much love.

  4. I am a stranger that has been changed because of your blog, your incredible faith and wisdom and because of your beautiful little angel. I recently lost my mom and its been hard. I know it's nothing compared to losing a precious child but it was still hard. Your words have inspired me. If you can go through all that you have and become stronger and closer to Heavenly Father, then I can too! I will try to follow your lead and work towards having complete faith in our Fathers will. Please take comfort in knowing that this trial although painful, has turned out to be important and has offered a spiritual lifeline for many. Your beautiful Eli served such an important mission. What a valiant and perfect man he must be to be able to come do this! What valiant and wonderful parents you are to be called to be his mom and dad! The second coming and opportunity to be reunited with our loved ones really is not that far away in the scheme of things. Technically... it could be a day away or years away. Regardless... what a joyful reunion you will have! I am positive that Elijah will hold you in his arms and thank you for doing exactly what he needed and for making his time here love filled. Have a wonderful and happy eternity with him and your future children!

  9. What a wonderful tribute to such an incredible little boy! I am continually amazed at Eli's ability to inspire, lift, and encourage others in such a short amount of time. I believe that that ability comes as a gift from Heavenly Father, but also through Eli's ability and willingness to follow his tremendous parents. Liz and Logan, I am grateful for the unconditional love and confidence that you show in our Heavenly Father's plan. Thank you for the blessing that you are to me! I love all three of you so much!

  12. I have been following your blog for a few weeks and just want to thank you for documenting Eli's incredible life for others to read. I am a general pediatrician, which means I spent 2 months of training in a peds ICU back in 2009, so I could relate more than some to the events that took place there. I was really impressed and inspired by your optimism and the peaceful, happy way in which you related Eli's story.

You were blessed with a special little boy and he was blessed with special parents. My heart aches for your loss. I hope that you can find comfort through the Holy Spirit at this time. I'm sure there are many more readers like me who will never comment here, but for them and me, I say thank you for sharing Eli with us.

  13. Logan and Liz, I'm so sorry for your loss. I really felt like I needed to go see you both and I'm glad I made it to the viewing. I didn't want to intrude on your family which is why I didn't stay. My email is sienna_horsley@hotmail.com, since you asked for my contact info. I have read through Eli's entire story on your blog and I am blown away by your faith. It was also sad to learn that another baby was suffering so terribly while I was lost in my own world with my own baby's trials. I wish I had known what you were going through while we were both in the hospital so we could've had a chance to talk.
